Certifications

Palo Alto Networks credentials behind every CWS engagement.

CWS holds Palo Alto Networks PCNSC and PCNSE engineering certifications plus partner-tier Specializations across the Strata, Prisma, and Cortex portfolios. Every UAE and GCC engagement is led by a named, credentialed engineer.

ENGINEER
PCNSC

Palo Alto Networks Certified Security Consultant

Senior consulting credential covering design, deployment, and operations across the Strata firewall platform.

WHAT IT COVERS
  • NGFW architecture (PA-Series and VM-Series)
  • Panorama design and operation
  • Migration methodology
  • Customer-facing consulting engagements
WHY IT MATTERS

PCNSC is the credential Palo Alto Networks expects on senior consulting engagements. Required for many partner-led implementations and reference architectures.

ENGINEER
PCNSE

Palo Alto Networks Certified Network Security Engineer

Core technical certification for engineers designing, configuring, and troubleshooting Palo Alto Networks NGFW deployments.

WHAT IT COVERS
  • PAN-OS configuration depth
  • Security policy design
  • Threat prevention profiles
  • Troubleshooting and diagnostics
WHY IT MATTERS

The baseline engineering credential for any Palo Alto NGFW work. Every CWS delivery engineer on Strata engagements is PCNSE.

SPECIALIZATION
Prisma SASE APS

Prisma SASE Associate Professional Specialization

Partner-tier specialization recognizing demonstrated competency delivering Prisma SASE — Prisma Access plus Prisma SD-WAN — in production.

WHAT IT COVERS
  • Prisma Access mobile-user and remote-network deployment
  • Prisma SD-WAN underlay and overlay design
  • Identity integration and zero-trust posture
  • Operational handoff and Day-2 runbooks
WHY IT MATTERS

SASE Specialization is increasingly required by Palo Alto Networks for partner-led SASE deals. Indicates depth beyond a single PCNSE engineer.

SPECIALIZATION
Software Firewall

Software Firewall Specialization

Partner specialization for delivery of VM-Series and CN-Series software firewalls in cloud, virtualized, and container environments.

WHAT IT COVERS
  • VM-Series on AWS, Azure, GCP, and on-prem hypervisors
  • CN-Series for Kubernetes
  • Automation and Terraform deployment patterns
  • Cloud-native segmentation and microsegmentation
WHY IT MATTERS

Required for partner credibility on cloud-native and CNAPP-adjacent Palo Alto engagements. Pairs with Prisma Cloud Specialization.

SPECIALIZATION
Hardware Firewall

Hardware Firewall Specialization

Partner specialization for delivery of PA-Series hardware firewalls in data-center, branch, and perimeter deployments.

WHAT IT COVERS
  • PA-Series sizing and capacity planning
  • High-availability deployment patterns
  • Data-center cutover methodology
  • Branch and SD-WAN edge integration
WHY IT MATTERS

The ground-truth credential for physical Palo Alto deployments. Critical for regulated industries (banking, energy, government) that mandate on-prem perimeter.

SPECIALIZATION
Prisma Cloud

Prisma Cloud Specialization

Partner specialization for delivery of Prisma Cloud — CSPM, CWPP, code security, IaC scanning, and CIEM — across multi-cloud environments.

WHAT IT COVERS
  • CSPM rollout and policy authoring
  • Container and host workload protection
  • Code-to-cloud security pipelines
  • IAM and entitlement risk (CIEM)
WHY IT MATTERS

Prisma Cloud Specialization is the partner credential for cloud security engagements at scale. Required for many enterprise Prisma Cloud deals.

SPECIALIZATION
Cortex Specialization

Cortex Specialization

Partner specialization for delivery of the Cortex platform — XDR, XSIAM, XSOAR, and XPANSE — for SOC modernization engagements.

WHAT IT COVERS
  • Cortex XDR deployment and tuning
  • Cortex XSIAM SOC platform engagements
  • Cortex XSOAR playbook authoring and integration
  • Cortex XPANSE attack-surface management
WHY IT MATTERS

Cortex Specialization is the partner credential for SOC-modernization deals. Required by Palo Alto Networks for many XSIAM partner-led implementations.

How CWS uses certifications

Credentials are minimums. Engineering judgment is the deliverable.

Every CWS Palo Alto engineer holds PCNSE as a baseline. Senior engineers carry PCNSC plus one or more partner Specializations aligned to the workload they deliver (Strata, Prisma SASE, Prisma Cloud, Software Firewall, Hardware Firewall, or Cortex).

The Specializations matter because Palo Alto Networks tracks them at the partner-account level and uses them to qualify partners for enterprise opportunities. They reflect proven delivery at scale, not just exam pass-rates.

CWS engineers are reviewed and re-certified on Palo Alto's published cadence. Active credentials are kept current. Lapsed credentials are not listed.

Credentials backed by delivery, not training certificates alone.
